Obituary of David J. Hill

 David Joseph Hill, 65, of Venice, FL passed away December 3, 2023, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Dave is survived by his wife Christine Hill, his son, Chad C. Hill, his stepdaughter, Grace Young, (her partner Reno). His brothers, Chuck (Mary) Hill, Mike (Debbie) Hill, his sisters Elizabeth (Mark) Johnson, Valerie Miller, Brother-In-Law Joe Sellars, several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents, David J. and Regina K. (Jastremsky) Hill, His sister Colleen J. Sellars, his niece Olivia Hill, Brother-in-Law, Harry J. Miller, and his faithful friend Ruger.

Dave was born on June 27th, 1958, in Waverly, NY. He grew up in Owego, NY. He was a dedicated, loving husband and father. He was the eldest of six siblings that he deeply cared for.

He enjoyed working, fishing, boating, cooking for family and friends, road trips, going to the gun range, any big building project at home, and most of all he loved family fishing trips to the Florida Keys.

He grew up working in his Dad’s Body Shop. He later moved to Florida where he passionately began his career as Body Shop Manager at Thornton Nissan in Venice, FL in 1985. He dedicated over a decade there managing and mentoring before joining The Sunset Automotive Group as Body Shop Manager at Sunset Chevrolet in 1996. He worked there for 26 years until he reluctantly retired in 2021. Dave embodied admirable qualities with a great work ethic, a great sense of humor and a strong sense of pride and heart for his team and workplace.

Family and friends may join us for a Catholic Mass on January 12, 2024, at St. Raphael Catholic Church. 770 Kilbourne Ave. Englewood, FL 34223 at 10:00 am., A celebration of Daves life and luncheon to follow at the Parish Center.
