Obituary of John Hart Jones

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Hart Jones, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in North Port, Florida.  He was born on March 9, 1963, in Tampa, Florida to Daniel Harvey Jones, Jr. and Suzanne Hart Jones (Helbig).

John graduated from Plant High School in Tampa in 1981 and served our country in the United States Marines Corps as an Amphibious Assault Operator.  After leaving the service, John parlayed his exceptional artistic ability into a career painting billboards all along Southwest Florida’s highways and biways - now a lost art.  John then turned his artistic flair into a 23+ year career with the City of Tampa as a Drafter.

He is survived by the love of his life whom he married November 11, 2021, Barbara Jones, his children Jonathan, Kennedy and Delaney Jones, brothers Daniel Jones (Ali), Christopher Jones (Louise Caravella-Jones), sister Victoria Hardy (Michael) and his mother Suzanne Hart Jones. He was predeceased by his father Daniel Harvey Jones, Jr. and nephew Ryan Jones. John touched many people during his life; his heart was bigger than he was. He leaves behind many extended family and friends. And he wouldn’t want us to forget his furry children, Luna, Kush, and Mildred.  

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for November 10, 2023, from 5-9 pm at The American Legion U.S.S. Tampa Post 5, 3810 W. Kennedy Blvd, Tampa, FL  33609. Come as you are to share stories of John with his friends and loved ones.
