Obituary of Sandra Sue Hawkins
Sandra “Sandy” Sue Hawkins, 75, passed away on Tuesday October 17, 2023, in Sarasota, FL. She was born on July 29, 1948, in Alpena, MI to Lorenzo and Marjorie (Himes) Edmonds. Sandy graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1966. She married her husband William Kenneth Hawkins on April 1, 1967. Sandy worked as a school bus driver for Swartz Creek School District and Lexington School District until retirement in 2012. She and her husband relocated to Lake Suzy, FL in 2015.
Sandy was a card playing fanatic. She specifically enjoyed playing cutthroat spades and pinochle but would enjoy playing any games with her family. She also loved playing video poker. Sandra was an avid scrapbooker preserving memories for future generations.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Sandy is predeceased by her parents Lorenzo and Marjorie Edmonds, siblings Joanne Ramp, Darwin Edmonds, Larry Edmonds, Audrey Lackney, Kay Edmonds, Lanny Edmonds, Dixie Edmonds, and daughter-in-law Shannon Mack.
She is survived by her husband William Kenneth Hawkins, children Melissa (Lance) Foster and Bill Hawkins, grandchildren Staff Sargent Cody Hawkins, Tyler Foster, Kayla Foster, and Shelby Foster, great grandchildren Allissa, Tate, and Aubree, siblings Patricia Wagner, Terri (Bill) Thorp, and Kimberly (Ward) Grose, sister-in-law Patti Edmonds, brother-in-law Mark Lackney and many friends and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Friday October 20, 2023, from 3PM to 4:45PM, with a prayer service to begin at 4:45PM.
