Obituary of Thomas Roy Nastase

Tom was born on January 21st, 1957 in Blairsville, Pennsylvania.  He died suddenly on October 16th, 2023 at Punta Gorda Bayshore Hospital, Punta Gorda, Florida, surrounded by family and friends.  Tom was the son of Thomas J. and Verna Nastase of Blairsville, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Blairsville Senior High School, where he enjoyed much love and friendship.  He married the love of his life, Joanne Tomko, on January 14th, 1984. He was a twelve-year employee of R&P Coal Company in Pennsylvania, and for twenty-five years, was an engineer for Comcast Communications.  He retired to Venice, Florida in 2014.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, and his father-in-law, Joseph Tomko.  He is survived by his wife, Joanne of Venice, Florida; his daughter, Brooke (Shawn) Pierce of Blairsville, Pennsylvania; Grandchildren Paighton and Gage Pierce, also of Blairsville.  Siblings Victor (Renee) Nastase of Blairsville, Pennsylvania; Theresa (Joe Fitzwater) of Aberdeen, North Carolina; Mother-in-law, Helen Tomko of Blairsville, Pennsylvania; Brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews; and his "Railroad crossing" buddies.

Tom enjoyed the Florida beaches, walking, running, biking, working out, and golfing.  He especially loved spending time with friends and family.  He was also known to frequent all the pizza parlors in the Venice area.

Tom worked at Jacaranda West Country Club, where he enjoyed the comradery of his coworkers, and free golf.  He was also a member of the Grand Palm Community and golf league, where he delighted in golf and friendship. Tom had a strong faith in the Lord and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice, Florida.

A visitation will be held from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.  A funeral service will be held at Farley Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023at 12:00PM with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.  To send a condolence or memory please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
