Obituary of James Gardner Biever

James “Jim” Gardner Biever, age 87, of North Venice, Florida, passed away on September 20, 2023 at the Tidewell Hospice House in Venice. Prior to passing away his wife shared with him that she had spoken to their travel agent and requested a 1st class non-stop ticket on the Concord to Heaven and the next day he took that flight at 10:15AM.  He was born on December 2, 1935 in Germantown, PA, and was raised in Bryn Mawr on the Philadelphia Main Line.  Jim graduated from Lower Marion High School in 1953 and from the University of Virginia in 1957 with a BS Degree in Commerce. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the Sons of the American Revolution.  He moved to Venice in 2015 from Lewes, Delaware. His enthusiasm was encouraged by his entrepreneur spirit that led him to his career in finance, energy and corporate jet sales. Jim loved his leisure activities which included tennis, golf, power boating, travel, and cooking.  People are still talking about his smoked turkey on the Weber Grill for Thanksgiving. Jim was always full of surprises, good humor and generous spirit. When in the I.C.U. the nurses asked the usual questions-who is President, where are we, what year is it and what day is it? He just rolled his eyes as to say in really. She then asked his name-he paused then said “Adorable” because that’s what my wife calls me.

Jim is survived by his loving, wife of 58 years, Pamela Kimberly “Kim” Biever of North Venice; son, Bennett H.H. Biever and other wonderful family, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his son, James Gardner Biever, Jr and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 which would have been his 88th birthday at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1115 Center Road in Venice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited (www.donate.ducks.org) or to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. (www.tidewellhospice.org). Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements. To send a memory or condolence please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
