Bob was a great and funny guy, so dedicated to Cedarbrook. I'll never forget what he said to me on the course, when I was 15 years old while playing alone. I hit a lousy shot on the Par 3 9th and dropped a second ball for a "do over."
Before I could hit it, Bob appeared out of nowhere. "If you keep hitting second shots because you're not happy with the first one, you'll never concentrate as much as you should, because you always drop another ball. The best golfers know to take the pain of the lousy shot, then learn from it." 55 years later, I haven't hit another "do over" again.
