Obituary of Harriet Marie Ebeling

Harriet Marie Ebeling died on July 22, 2022 in Venice.  She was 99.  Harriet was born on December 3, l922 to Marie (Meyer) and Harry Ebeling in Davenport, Iowa, amidst a large and loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins.  She attended the local schools and graduated from Davenport High School, first in her class.  She earned a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Iowa. 

Her long teaching career began in the elementary schools in Davenport and in the high school, where she taught history. She then joined the faculty at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota as a professor in the School of Education.  A master teacher, she directed the student teacher and intern programs, launching many students into successful teaching careers.  She retired as a Professor Emerita. 

Harriet was an accomplished church organist, and always enjoyed the opportunity to fill in for others when needed. A staunch Lutheran, she was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice.

Harriet was the beloved sister of Marilyn Yeadon of Venice, who survives. There are also several cousins, and her nephews and their families, whom she dearly loved:  Fred (Michele) Yeadon, Jon Yeadon, and James (Cynthia)Yeadon; and Laura, Alex, and Soren.
