Obituary of Steven Ibbeken

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our loving & devoted husband & father, Steven L. Ibbeken, age 68, who passed peacefully at home in Venice, FL on January 28, 2022.

Steve is survived by his loving bride, Maria; daughters, Karla & Leigh Ann; grand daughters, Kayleigh & Madeline; sister, Patricia Zerbe(Don) and brother, David “Chet” Ibbeken. Preceded in death by his mother & father, Mary Jean (Stratton) & Ralph Ibbeken, and brother, Michael Sky.

Steve was a life long resident of the Bluebird community in Haddon Township, NJ. This is where he grew up, married and happily raised his family.

He graduated from Haddon Township High School in 1972, where he was an honors graduate and captain of the football team. His plans to finish college and pursue an engineering career were cut short by the death of his father.

Even so, Steve enjoyed a rewarding career as an estimator & project manager for construction and electronics firms, as well as running a successful property management & painting company.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Steve. He loved being with his family, walking his dog, riding his bike, reading, relaxing on the beach, bodysurfing, and barbecuing his famous chicken while drinking a beer in the backyard. Anyone who knew Steve was touched by his bright smile, intelligence and kind manner. He loved his family and friends very much. Steve will be missed more than words can say.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 23, 2022, 11AM, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, at St. John’s Church, 809 Park Ave, Collingswood, NJ. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Steven L Ibbeken HTHS Scholarship Fund, c/o Haddon Township Board of Education, 406 Memorial Ave., Westmont, NJ 08108.
