Obituary of Helen Catherine Cohn

HELEN CATHERINE COHN (Sammelmann)

November 17, 1937- January 20, 2022

Our beloved mother passed peacefully and is now in the arms of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. She has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7). Her children were blessed to be by her side during this special time.

What a blessing she has been to her family and friends. Her heart was big, and her love overflowed in abundance. There were no strangers to her; always seeking to help others. She lived a full and abundant life and encouraged others to do the same. She was, indeed, extraordinary!

The battle she fought with health issues has been a long and arduous one, but she fought it valiantly. Her absence will resonate indefinitely. She is survived by her daughters, Julie Whittaker (Tom) & Tracy Lawrence (Lynn), and her youngest son, Dane Parsons (Katrina), 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and two sisters along with their respective families. She is predeceased by her eldest son, Lance Parsons (Kathy).

There will be no formal service. The children pray you understand their wishes of an intimate time alone while they lay their mother to rest. This has been a very long and tender journey.

A special thanks, and all the love we can find in our hearts, goes out to Mary’s on Bayshore in Venice, Florida, who has served our mother faithfully since August 28, 2018. Your concern, love, and respect for our mother has been remarkable. Thank you to the entire staff for preserving her dignity. May God bless each and every one of you that has touched her life.

Additional gratitude to the many others that tended to her in various ways during her walk with Alzheimer’s. You know who you are, and we are eternally grateful.
