Obituary of Thomas A. Freeman

Thomas Freeman, Sr., age 73, of Venice, passed away on January 2, 2009 at TideWell Hospice House of Venice from Cancer. Thomas was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama. He spent time working in Michigan before moving to Florida in the early 1960’s, soon making Venice his permanent home. Thomas possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and found much success developing several construction businesses throughout his life in Venice. He relished in new opportunities and worked closely with family. Social by nature, Thomas delighted in being surrounded with friends and loved ones. He was a fine cook and entertainer. A truly giving soul, he was always generous to those in need. He was quick to offer a meal, ride, or handy service to those less fortunate. Thomas had a soft spot for animals and provided a home for many a stray. Thomas was happiest outdoors, gardening and observing nature. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Freeman, Jr., of Brentwood, TN and Kenneth Freeman of Venice, Fl; a daughter, Dawn Freeman; two brothers, Jamie Wayne Freeman of Venice and Jackie Freeman of Huntsville, AL; a sister, Annora Borske of Centre, AL and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. & Sarah Jones Freeman of Gadsden, Alabama. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Farley Funeral Home in Venice from 9:30AM-10:30AM with a service to follow. Burial will be held in Venice Memorial Gardens. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
