Obituary of Michael W. Metroine

Michael W. Metroine, 71 of Flagler Beach, FL and a former resident of North Port, FL died February 6, 2006. He was born July 7, 1934 in Newark, NJ, a son of the late Wallace and Caroline Richter Metroine. An air conditioning contractor Mr. Metroine was the retired founder and owner of J&M Heating and Cooling in North Port, FL. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, Flagler Beach where he was an usher, Eucharistic Minister, taught in the religious education program and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In North Port he was a member of the San Pedro Catholic Church, where he served as an Extraordinary Minister. He was a founder and past president of the North Port Little League and a member of the VFW and Elks Lodge both in North Port, FL. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Katherine; 2 daughters, Janet and her husband Albert Blasi of Mountainside, NJ & Lois D. Kozak of North Port, FL; 3 sons, Henry Jakimer of North Port, FL, Nicholas and his wife Lisa Jakimer of Port Charlotte, FL, & Michael Apgar of Colorado; 2 sisters, Marilyn DeBacco of Mendham, NY & Mary Ann Long of Italy; five grandchildren, Paul Kozak, Katrinia and Jenna Blasi, Nicholas, Jr. & Maxx Jakimer. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 11:00 AM at San Pedro Catholic Church, Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Research Foundation, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. or to San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL, 34287.
