Obituary of Marie H. Padden

Marie Padden, age 78, of Venice, died on January 29, 2007. She was born in Scranton, PA on June 30, 1928, and came to Venice in 1987. She attended Scranton Central High School and Keystone Junior College, where she earned a degree in secretarial arts and accounting, graduating with summa cum laude honors. She worked as an administrative secretary with the University of Scranton before becoming business office supervisor for Scranton Bell Telephone. Mrs. Padden also was a hospital volunteer in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Connecticut. She was a member of Jacaranda Country Club, serving there as president of the Ladies Golf Association. She was also a member of the Venice Yacht Club and Epiphany Cathedral. Surviving family members include her husband, Patrick Padden, of Venice; daughters Maureen Padden Just of Davie, FL, and Kathleen Padden of Birmingham, MI; sons Patrick F. Padden of Concord, MA, and Frank M. Padden of Hudson, MA; and four grandchildren. There will be visitation Thursday, February 1st and Friday, February 2nd from 6-8 PM at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Epiphany Cathedral on Saturday, February, 3rd, at 10 AM. Interment will be in Pennsylvania.
