Obituary of Norman Lee Aker

Norman Lee Aker, age 76, of Venice, died o March 3, 2007. He was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on April 28, 1930, and came to Venice in 1992 from Fair Lake, Michigan. Mr. Aker received a B.S. from Hillsdale College and a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. He lived in Battle Creek, Michigan for many years, working as a food chemist for the Kellogg Company, and was a member of their 25 year club. He was a member emeritus of the Institute of Food Technologists, and served as a Sarasota County Election Official for several years. Surviving family members include his wife of 51 years, Janet, of Venice; son David K. Aker of Venice; daughters Deborah Thom of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Diana S. Siakotos of San Diego, California; brother Kenneth Aker of Hillsdale, Michigan; and 5 grandchildren, Nathan Aker, Ashton Aker, Derek Thom, Jason Thom, and Timothy Burkett. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 8th, at 2:30 PM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran, 790 S. Tamiami Tr., Venice, FL 34285.
