Obituary of George Pasternak

George Pasternak, age 91, of North Port, died on April 9, 2007. He was born in Ukraine on April 4, 1916, and came to America in 1949. He was the owner of the Flamingo Resort on Lake George, NY until he retired in 1990. His strong faith in God helped Mr. Pasternak endure extreme hardships during WWII, surviving 5 concentration camps which included Auschwitz and Bergen Belsen. During this time, he remained a loyal Ukrainian Patriot. He came to America and lived his dream building a successful business and loving family. Retiring to North Port, Florida, he was always involved in church and community. Mr. Pasternak was author of a book called Survivor recalling his experiences during his imprisonment. Surviving family members include his wife, Olga, of North Port; son, George and wife Laura of Port Charlotte and Lake George; daughter, Chrystyna and husband Wasyl Panycia; and grandson Marko of Lincoln Park, NJ.
