Obituary of James Conley

James E. Conley Sr., born November 22,1928 in Portland, ME, died April 12,2007 in Venice, FL. James was of the Catholic faith. He served in the Navy from 1946-1948 and graduated from the University of Maine in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He was employed by Arnold Machinery Co., Central Equip. Co. and was a former president of Maine Good Roads. James was an avid golfer, a member of Penobscot Valley Country Club and Venice East Golf Association. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Conley. Widowed twice, he was married forty-three years to Ruth Ahern Conley, and nine years to Jane Blanchard Conley. Survivors include sister, Elizabeth Brooks; three children, James E. Conley Jr., Carol A. Conley and Kathleen Houghtaling; four grandchildren, Grace Nash, Elizabeth Preston, Matthew and Sarah Houghtaling; two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Evander Preston.
