Obituary of Loren E. Bryant

Loren E. “Gene” Bryant, 77, of North Port, formerly of Venice, passed away on May 17th. He was born in Wabash, Indiana on February 19, 1930 to the late Warren Bryant and Elizabeth Dufton. After graduating high school Loren went to serve as a Marine in the Korean War. In 1953 he married his beloved wife Linda and worked in Maintenance at the Container Corporation’s paper mill. Loren and Linda came to the Venice area in 1968. He worked as a carpenter and was an owner-operator of the Venice Seed & Feed Store for 10 years. Loren was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church, and will be remembered for his warm hospitality and friendly service with coffee and donuts. Survivors include his loving wife Linda; two sons, David E. of Cairo, GA and Samuel R. of Englewood, FL; two daughters, JoEllen Whipple of Nokomis, FL and Carol Ann Nickell of Trussville, AL; sister Dortha Doyle of Wabash; brother Kenneth of Goshen, IN; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Martha.
