Obituary of Marvin B. Zollers

Marvin “Pete” Zollers, 87, beloved husband of Mary Sassaman Zollers for 65 years, passed away on May 18, 2007. He was one of four children of Garfield and Ella Zollers, born in Limerick, PA. He had been a resident of North Port, FL for the past 25 years. He leaves two loving daughters, Sandra Heacock of North Port and Merrilee Levin of Macungie, PA as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One sister, Evelyn Yergey of North Port, survives his demise. He was preceded in death by his sister, Miriam Ziegler, his brother, Harold Zollers and his daughter, Marjorie Porter. He was an avid fisherman and boater, and was involved in many activities in harbor Cove, where he resided. He was a life member of the Harbor Cove Boat Club, and a former “Old Man of the River”. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 759th Armored Unit of the US Army during the occupation of Germany. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant after serving 2 � years. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Unit Croix de Guerre, the Army of Occupation Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Word War II Victory Medal, among his awards. He was employed as an electrical engineer at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 42 years. He was a member of the Augustus Lutheran Church, and a lifetime member of the Trappe Fire Company and the Collegeville Fire Company in Pennsylvania. He will be sadly missed by a loving family and those whose lives he touched – he was loved for being the kind, good, and gentle man that he was. Private services will be held in the Limerick garden of Memories in Limerick, PA.
