Obituary of Louis D. Verner

Verner, Louis D. 86 of South Venice passed away July 27, 2007. Louis (Lou) Verner Formerly of Michigan was born in Vineland, New Jersey on February 12, 1921. He lived in Japanese Gardens with his wife Mae and belonged to Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. He was active in the Gardens and was on the original Board of Directors planning the purchase of the park. Survivors include his wife Mae of 18 years, son; Louis and wife Holly of Richmond, Va., daughter; Linda MacGregor of De Witt, Mi., brother; Col. Edward Verner, 3 stepsons and wives, a nephew Raymond Baranowski of Englewood, Fl and many nieces and nephews. He was also a great, great, great uncle of which he was very proud. He was a member of the United States Army Air Force and Veteran of WWII, serving as a Sgt. in India, China, and the Burma area. He was a member of the American Legion in Venice. He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 25 years of service. Louis enjoyed life-traveling, sports, gardening, and dancing. He was a personable man and everyone who knew Lou loved his friendly nature. He will be surely missed by many. A visitation for Louis will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel with a Prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 10:00 am at Epiphany Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Center for Independent Living, 2989 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, FL 34237 or to TideWell Hospice and Palliative, 220 Wexford Blvd, Venice, Fl 34293.
