Obituary of Stanley Eugene Shumway

Stanley Eugene Shumway, age 88, of Nokomis, FL, died on July, 29, 2007. He was born on July 9, 1919 in Waldron, MI and has been a resident of Nokomis and Canada for the last 20 years. He was the owner of Shumway’s Flowers in Tiffon, OH before he retired. Mr. Shumway was a WWII US Navy Veteran, serving on a ship that made the Murmansk Run. He received the Liberty Medal for his service during the War. Surviving family members include his wife, Betty Lou Shumway of Nokomis; brother Robert Shumway of Silver Springs, FL; daughters Jane Wetzel (John) of Newregiel, OH, Dorothy Ann Hollingsworth (Rudy) of Taylorsville, NC, Barb Shumway (William) of Tiffon, OH, Peggy Long of Peoria, AZ, Susan Moerder (Ed) of Mesa, AZ; sons John Shumway (Ethel) of Bellevue, OH, Kevin Shumway (Janet) of Pickerington, OH, Kermit Long, Jr of Phoenix, AZ, and Ken Long (Karen) of Lebanon, OR; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Shumway, and wife Helen Benner Shumway. Services will be held at a later date in Tiffon, OH.
