Obituary of Ivy Esther Clarke

Ivy Esther Clarke, 81 of North Port, Florida passed away September 16, 2007. Ivy was born April 1, 1926 in British Guyana. She moved from British Guyana to Brooklyn, NY in the 1960’s. She was a nurse with the Jewish Hospital and Medical Center of Brooklyn with 28 years of service until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in North Port. She was very active as a church volunteer; she was a member of many church choirs and loved to sing. Ivy leaves behind one daughter; Diane Francois and husband James of North Port, one son; Derek Strauss, two brothers; Charles, Vernon, one sister; Madeline all of Brooklyn, three grandchildren; Nicole of Brooklyn, NY, Stacey of Tampa, Fl and Christina of Queens, NY, one great grandson: Divine also of Brooklyn and many friends and family. A visitation will be held for Ivy on Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 4 to 6 pm at the Farley Funeral Home in North Port. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church in North Port with burial following at Venice Memorial Gardens.
