Obituary of Hugo Richard Hofmann

Hugo Richard “Dick” Hofmann,Jr., age 87, of Venice, died on October 22, 2007. He was born on May 6, 1920 in New York, NY. Dick attended the Northfield Mt. Herman School and the University of Miami where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served in the Air Force during WWII. He was employed by the FAA, and worked as a flight safety inspector in several locations including the Middle East, Europe, and Hawaii. Dick was active in golfing, square dancing, art, and as a handyman. He was an accomplished skier, and was a member of the ski patrol at age 70. Dick was also known as the syrup man at Grace United Methodist Church pancake breakfasts. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of Venice; son Hugo Richard Hofmann III and wife Patricia of Venice; and daughter Suzanne Lorraine Russell and husband James of Harrisonburg, VA. Dick was predeceased by granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Hofmann. A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at 2 PM.
