Obituary of Lottie N. Wheeler

Lottie N. Wheeler, age 89, of Venice, Florida, passed away on November 22, 2007. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 9, 1918 to Emil and Marie Neubauer, and trained to be a Registered Nurse at Long Island College Hospital, also in Brooklyn. Following marriage to Robert S. Wheeler in 1940, she pursued a nursing career at several New York area hospitals and was a homemaker before moving from Upper Saddle River, New Jersey to Venice in 1976. During retirement, she volunteered at Venice Regional Medical Center, and participated with her husband in establishment of Myakka Pines Golf Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, and a sister, Hilda N. Weideman of Sarasota. She is survived by three sons, Douglas P. Wheeler of Washington, D.C., Jeffrey A. Wheeler of Lyman, N.H., and Stuart J. Wheeler of Thomasville, GA, and also leaves behind four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, which is also the resting place of her husband, Robert, a World War II veteran. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida is handling the arrangements.
