Obituary of Marvin G. Mcfadden

Marvin G. McFadden, 77, of Venice, passed away on December 22nd. Born on January 18, 1930 in Columbus, Iowa. He graduated Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1953. During that time, he played football helping to bring the team to National Football Championship for two successive years, having only lost one game the third year. Upon graduating MSU he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and played the 1953-56 seasons as offensive right guard, and played on defense and kick-off and return teams. After playing football he served in the US Army as First Lieutenant, Gun Commander of the 280th Atomic Cannon, during the Korean War. His career was in the automotive industry. He worked for General Motors for 16 years as Personnel Director; Volkswagen of America as General Director of Personnel, then unto his own MGM Consultants as President. He was Past Commodore of the Venice Yacht Club, and a member for 22 years serving on a number of committees. He was an avid boater and fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 34 years Beverly; sons, Gregory and wife Shirley of Wixom, MI, Michael and wife Kristi of Livonia, MI, Mark and wife Cindy of Ortonville, MI; sister Jeri Richard and husband Lowell of Spring Hill, FL; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 27th at the Farley Funeral home, Venice Chapel. Funeral services will be the 11AM the following day at the Venice Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), 511 E. John Carpenter Frwy, Suite 700, Irving, TX 75062 in honor of his wife’s nephew Daniel Smith.
