Obituary of Kenneth J. Hicks

Kenneth J. Hicks, 79, Venice, died Jan. 15, 2008.Mr. Hicks was the owner and operator of Hicks Industries in Miami. He was a member and past exalted ruler of the Elks and a member of Plantation Golf & Country Club. Mr. Hicks was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine. He served as president of the Big Rapids Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Hicks was appointed by the Michigan governor to the License and Regulation Board. He was a graduate of Ferris State University and a member of its Gridiron Club. The university also inducted him as a member of the University Hall of Fame, honorary coach. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters Peggy Congleton of San Diego, Calif., Deborah Knopf (Dennis) of Big Rapids, Mich. and Barbara Sinn (Dan) of Gaylord, Mich.; son Dan Hicks (Connie) of Fort Myers Beach; grandchildren Jason and Scott Knopf, Joshua Dohm, Patrick and Candice Hicks, Jonathan Choss, and Christopher Congleton; great-grandchildren Jake Knopf and Carina Ballard; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
