Obituary of Virginia Dare Starkey

Virginia D. Starkey, 89, Venice, formerly of Springfield, Missouri, died March 10, 2008. Virginia was born April 20, 1918 in Yoder, Wyoming, the daughter of the late Waldo and Ida (Likins) Johnson. Virginia was a secretary for the FAA and worked for the Quad Cities Airport Tower Chief. She was a member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. Virginia is survived by one daughter, Billie King, and son-in-law, Lee King of Venice; brother, F. Morris Johnson, of Loveland, Colorado; sister, Alice Vaughn of Rolla, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Willard A. Starkey; sister, Alma Anker; and brothers Dan and Paul (Jack) Johnson. A reception in honor of Virginia’s life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 19 at the home of Billie and Lee King. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 954, Wilton, NH 03086-0954.
