Obituary of Gregory Williams Ponder

Gregory Williams Ponder, age 49, of Nokomis, died on March 15, 2008. He was born January 26, 1959, and was a native Venetian, graduating Venice High School in 1977. Greg was a commercial fishing captain, and artist, and a sculptor. He was also the manager of Foremost Ponders Wine and Cheese Shop. Visitation will be at Farley Funeral Home on Thursday, March 20th from 12 – 1 PM, with a funeral service at 1 PM. Burial will be private. Surviving family members include his wife, Diane, of Nokomis; stepdaughter Brandy Smith of Shelbyville, IN; son Joshua Babb of Hypoluxo, FL; daughter Heather Ponder of Venice; son Dustin Ponder of Nokomis; grandchildren Tex and Annalee Curry and KayLynn and Gavin Smith; father stepmother James W. and Kay Ponder III of Venice; brother James W. (Rip) Ponder IV, of Nokomis; sister Tracy Hesser of Sarasota; step sister Leslie Furtick of Sarasota; and step brothers John Hager of Sarasota and Michael Hager of Australia.
