Obituary of Florance Borland Chivas

Florance Borland Chivas, 83, of North Port, Florida, died Tuesday, March 19, 2008 in Tidewell Hospice, Venice. She was born August 19, 1924 in Redford Township, Michigan to Robert and Eleanor Borland. Florance and her husband Bill moved to North Port in 1985 from Attica, Michigan. Florance and Bill were active in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard. Florance founded the neighborhood Lunch Brunch and was also active in the North Port Writing Group, and worked the Elections Board for 18 years. Her love for the City showed in her participation of every event, she was dearly loved by her friends and neighbors. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, William C. Chivas, son, Jerry Callahan, of Lapeer, Michigan, step children, William Chivas III of Marine City, Michigan, Robert Chivas of Southville, Michigan, Carolyn Chivas of Chicago, Illinois, granddaughter, Brandy Ortiz of Phoenix, Arizona and two great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and daughter, Janice.
