Obituary of J. Edward Fitzgerald

J. Edward Fitzgerald, 71 of 15 Lake Street, Rangeley, Maine died March 29, 2008 after a brief illness, at his winter home in Nokomis, Florida. Born in Attleboro, September 1, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Mildred (Davis) Fitzgerald of Norton. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Suzanne (Gagner); sons John and family of Concord, MA, Michael and family of Scarborough, ME and Daniel and family of Hillsborough, NH; five grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Inman of Nokomis, FL and Barbara Dowdall of Attleboro, MA; also, nephew Harry Dowdall and niece Kathy Snowman both of Attleboro. In the 50’s and 60’s, Ed was employed as an annealer at Leach & Garner Co., Attleboro. He also was a baker at Fernandes Supermarket, Plainville. Then he established the popular “Fitzy’s Donut Shop” on Maple Street, Chartley. In 1970 the family relocated to the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine where Ed and Suzanne re-established the donut shop which they operated until retirement in 2002.
