Obituary of Frances O. MacPherson

Frances O. (Fellingham) MacPherson, 69, of Venice, Florida passed away peacefully at home on the morning of April 19th, 2008 with family and long time friends present. She was a breast cancer survivor and died after a long struggle with stomach cancer. Survivors include her husband, Robert E. MacPherson; son Andrew E. MacPherson (Deborah); daughter Karen L. Johnson (Dr. Mark), daughter Brenda M. Maddaleni (Gregory), brother John Fellingham; sister Bonni Fellingham; and 9 grandchildren. Born in Princeton, Illinois and raised in Northern Virginia, she relocated to Florida in 1971 and resided in the Fort Lauderdale area for many years before retiring to the Sarasota-Venice area in 2002. Her profession was nursing and was a nurse practitioner specializing in Neonatal care. Upon retirement she traveled extensively, doted on her grandchildren, and was very active in the Sarasota and Venice Area Quilt Guilds. She was a member of the Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church. She is described as “the bravest woman I ever knew”. A visitation will take place on Monday, April 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Farley Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Venice – Nokomis United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. Final interment to be decided at a later date. Friends and loved ones are invited to Eagle Point Club directly after the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Venice Area Quilters Guild (thevaqg.com), Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church (vnumc@gte.net), or Tidewell Hospice (tidewell.org).
