Obituary of William Chivas

William Chivas, age 87 of North Port, Florida, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on April 23, 2008 in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was born on February 9, 1921 in Detroit. He worked at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, Michigan as a Senior Special Tester and moved to North Port in 1985. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, was active with the U.S. Navy Armed Guard and worked the Elections Board for 18 years in North Port. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his children, William of Marine City, Michigan, Robert of Southfield, Michigan, Carolyn of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florance on March 19, 2008; his parents, William & Jean (Noble) Chivas and his brother, Lawrence (Grace) Chivas. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 1:00-2:00PM with a service to follow at Farley Funeral Home in North Port. Burial will be private at Venice Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Farley Funeral Home in North Port is handling the arrangements.
