Linda Cole

Obituary of Linda Cole

Linda Cole, age 73, died on March 9, 2017, in Venice, Florida. Linda is survived by her husband, Robert Cole, of Venice, Florida; her children Jason Briggs (Sharon), Aimee Wall (Steve) and Anna Wilson (Jeff); her stepchildren Michael Cole (Allyson), Christopher Calabrese (Carey), and Pamela Cole; and her eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ruth Dobie, of Dayton, Ohio. Linda was born on June 11, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University and later raised her family in Columbus with Alan Briggs providing endless hours as a Den Mother, room parent, chaperone, and hostess. Some professional highlights from this time included community organizing in Upper Arlington, lobbying for the League of Women Voters, and working as a legislative reporter and editor in Columbus. After parting ways with Alan, Linda shared ten laughter-filled years with Bob Butler before he passed away. Linda and Robert Cole married in 2006 and retired to Florida in 2010 where they very much enjoyed a slower pace of life, cooking together, travels, and a reprieve from the Midwest winters. She was a card shark, tennis ace, gourmet cook and trivia whiz. Those who knew her appreciated her sharp wit and keen intelligence. A reception will be held in Columbus this spring for family and friends wishing to celebrate her life. Please contact Jason Briggs at jdbriggs@mac.com if you would like to be part of the celebration.
