Obituary of Donald E. Fisher

Donald E. Fisher, 92, of Nokomis, Florida formerly of Port Huron, Michigan died on September 1, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 31, 1926 to the late Guy and Hulda Fisher. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Anne G. Fisher. Mr. Fisher was a graduate of St. Stephen's High School in Port Huron. Don joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served proudly on the USS Wake Island during WWII. He retired from Detroit Edison in 1986 after 39 years of service. He was the Supervisor of Real Estate and Right of Way. Don served as the Past President of Kings Gate Club in Nokomis, Florida and on the Real Estate Board. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1843, B.P.O.E. and American Legion. He was an active bowler, golfer and boat owner for many years. He also built many model wooden boats in his retirement. Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife, Anne and daughters, Diane Jacoby, Cheryl O'Donnell (James), Susan Alexander (Thomas) and Nancy Hrisca, (Dale). He has ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Fisher, grandson Brian O'Donnell and son-in-law John (Mike) Jacoby. A mass to celebrate Don's life will be held at Epiphany Cathedral at 10:00AM on Monday, September 10, 2018 followed by burial with military honors at Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30PM. His grandsons will be the pallbearers; John Borowski, Robert O'Donnell, Craig Jacoby, Daniel Alexander, Jasen Hrisca and Zachary Fisher. The alternate pallbearer will be Edward Hosmer.
