Obituary of Shirley Savage Purdy

Shirley Purdy, August 17, 1939 - January 25, 2021 Shirley Savage Purdy, 81, of Venice, FL, formerly of Meadville, PA, passed away after a period of declining health on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Tidewell Hospice in Englewood, FL. Born August 17, 1939, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Howard and Lina (Harper) Savage and sister to Lois Minnoe of Baldwinsville, NY. She married Robert L. Purdy on June 28, 1960. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2013. Shirley was also preceded in death by her son James and daughter Cynthia. She is survived by her son Raymond, daughter-in-law Emiko and granddaughter Stephanie. Shirley completed her education in nursing at Jameson School of Nursing, in New Castle, PA., in 1960. She spent most of her professional career working as a Registered Nurse at the Meadville Medical Center, formerly Spencer Hospital, in Meadville, PA., where she retired in 1997. In retirement with her husband Robert, Shirley enjoyed traveling the U.S.A. in their RV, international travel around the world and cruises to the Caribbean Islands. According to Shirley's wishes, only a small private service will be held. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
