Obituary of Hale A. Lane, Jr.

Hale (“Hal”) A. Lane, Jr., 78, passed away on April 10th, 2024, in Port Charlotte. He was born on June 8, 1945, in Livermore, CA to Hale A. and Virginia (Mills) Lane. In 1970 he married his wife Donna Magee and shared 53 years together.

 

He served in the Navy, stationed on the US Hancock, and was a Vietnam Vet. After a total of 32 years as an Air Traffic Controller he retired from the DOD and being a true Floridian, he and his wife settled in North Port, FL. He received several accolades through his career for exceptional professionalism and going beyond, to assure the safety of pilots and planes.

 

Hal loved Tarpon fishing, golf, NASCAR racing, gardening, visiting his grandchildren and taking care of the backyard wildlife and butterflies.

 

He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters, Farrah Lane, son-in-law Cliff Archer, Heather Lane, son-in-law Eric Lynch, two granddaughters Ellie and Isla and beloved cats Misty and Cassie.

 

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Farley Funeral Home, North Port, FL. Services will be at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society of South Florida or in memory of Hale Lane to Tidewell Hospice-Port Charlotte House, 1158 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
