Obituary of Ronald Carl Dehardt

Ronald Carl Dehardt, age 77, of Venice, Florida passed away on April 5, 2024.  

He was born on October 6, 1946 to Arthur & Ann Dehardt and grew up in Rochelle Park, NJ. After graduating from Hackensack High School, he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Independence (CVA 62) during the Vietnam Conflict where he was also in the band during his service.  

After leaving the service in 1969, he met the love of his life, Suzanne. The two married in June of 1971 and they spent 53 years together until the Lord called him home. Ron & Sue started their family in Vernon, NJ in 1972 where they raised two sons, Ronald C. Dehardt of Seminole, FL and Timothy M. Dehardt of White Plains, NY. 

Ron used the mechanical & electrical tools that he learned during his time in the US Navy and became a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technician. Ron worked his way from an apprentice to journeyman & eventually to upper management. Ron retired from that industry in January of 2014 and he & Sue moved to Venice, Florida. During his time in Venice, Ron met & established some great friendships & relationships. He also took amazing pride while working at the Atlanta Braves Spring Training Facility at Cool Today Field at Wellen Park and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. 

Ronald is survived by his wife, Suzanne; two sons, Ronald & Timothy (Jennifer); two grandchildren, Tyler & Jillian (JJ); his brother, Karl and countless nieces and nephews who will always remember him as Uncle Ronnie.

A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4:00PM-7:00PM.  A funeral service will be held at Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 9:00AM with burial to follow at Sarasota National Cemetery.
