Obituary of Alfred H. Filskov Jr.

Alfred H Filskov Jr., a resident of Venice since 1993, died January 29th, 2024, at the age of 85.  Born and raised in Short Hills New Jersey, he graduated from Millburn High School with an interest in science.  His high school biology project won Grand Prize in the Greater Newark Science Fair and was a Gold Medal Finalist in the National Science Fair. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken New Jersey, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas Texas.  During his early career, he worked as an engineer for Texas Instruments and received several patents including “Photographic Timing Control” to be used in the 1970s Polaroid camera. 

In 1976 he was recruited to the position of President of Morganite Inc. (An international company located in North Carolina).  After living in Raleigh NC and leading the company for 10 years, prospects changed and he had the opportunity to acquire a consumer manufacturing company in Johannesburg, South Africa.  He lived in Johannesburg for an active 8 years, after which the business was sold, and he then moved to Venice Florida. 

Locally he was involved in finance and became an Investment Advisor associated with Core Investment Management LLC, Clearwater FL.

He was a member of the Stevens Legacy Society.  He was a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization) for 18 years and served as a Forum Leader for 8 years.  Also, longtime member of the Society for Science and the Public. 

He is survived by his son Fred Filskov, daughter-in-law Shujuan and grandson Leeland of Salt Lake City.


Memorial services will be held at Farley Funeral Home on February 17th at 2 p.m.

Burial will be at Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy New Jersey.
