Victor Hansen

Obituary of Victor A. Hansen

Victor A. Hansen, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in his home in Osprey, Florida. He was born in Santa Monica, California to Victor H. Hansen and Bernice Nadey, and was the older brother to his sister, Deb Hansen.

In 1953, Victor and his sister moved to Wheat Ridge Colorado where their parents started an antiques business. Victor graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1963, and entered the U.S. Navy, where he served on a submarine unit in Connecticut. After his service in the Navy, he attended college in Denver, CO, where he enjoyed the iconic music and love scene of the 1960s. While there, he met Trudy Livingstone with whom he had his son, Darryll, who was born in 1968. From 1970-1976, he was married to Fabby Hillyard in Denver, Colorado.

Victor developed an appreciation of antiquities while working with his parent's family business, Hansen Galleries, in Sante Fe, New Mexico. His appreciation of fine art and antiques became a passion, leading him to devote his life to collecting and restoring works of art as an antiques dealer. Victor spent his life seeking to discover the mysteries and wisdom of Buddhism. He engaged in meditation and the spiritual practices of Tibetan Buddhism in his quest for compassion and wisdom. In 2015, Victor found renewed purpose in his life when he was reunited with his son, Darryll and his family. Having the opportunity to meet his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren filled his heart with joy and inspired him to move to Osprey to buy his first home to host family gatherings. Living in Osprey also provided Victor with the opportunity to work with his close friend and business associate, Don Elder, owner of Elder Antiques.

Those who knew Victor appreciated his great sense of wit and humor. In fact, in the 1970s, Victor spent a great deal of time with noted comedians, entertainers, and celebrities. Victor cultivated friendships with those he encountered. Before establishing roots in Osprey, he lived throughout the country, from Santa Monica, CA, to Aspen, CO, Los Angeles, and Naples, FL, and traveled around the world. His days of wandering reached a happy ending as he devoted his retirement years to establishing roots with his family while also working to make his home a peaceful sanctuary.

Victor is survived by his loving family: his son, Darryll Andrew McCall and daughter-in-law, Julie Frechette; his grandchildren, Hayden Champagne, his wife Emily, and great-grandson Russell, and Connor Frechette-McCall; his sister Deb Hansen and her partner Gaylen Myre. His family thanks all those who knew, loved, and helped Victor in his life’s journey. While services will not be held, friends and family are welcome to share their memories and parting wishes on the memorial page at Farley’s Funeral Home.
