Obituary of Donald Raymond Strom

Donald R. Strom, 85, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Highland, IN, passed away on 9/7/23. Born in Chicago, IL, his kind heart and keen intellect left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to know him.

A graduate of Hanover College, he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Professionally, he distinguished himself as Vice President at Calumet Securities, yet it was the simple moments that brought him unparalleled joy. Whether it was reminiscing about his favorite hike (Trail 3 at Turkey Run), swimming in the river at his family cottage, stamp collecting, or diving deep into Civil War and WWI history, his passion for life was evident. 

The heart of his story was his 58-year marriage to Jeannine. They navigated life's joys and challenges hand in hand. Their home became a sanctuary for family visits, a place of laughter and precious memories.

He is remembered not only by his children, Jennifer and Don (Heidi) Strom, but his grandchildren DJ (Shawn), Josh (Paulina), Matt (Cait), David, Adam and Sarah. He is survived by great grandchildren- Theo, PJ, and Stevie and his black cat Luna.  

A memorial service will be held in Schererville, IN. No local services are planned.
