Obituary of Walter Joseph Pierce

Walter “Joe” Joseph Pierce, 82, passed away surrounded by his family on July 25, 2023. He was born on May 19, 1941, in Louisville, KY to Walter and Mary (Mitchell) Pierce. Joe attended high school in Louisville, KY. He married his wife Janet Ann McLennan on May 1, 1959. Joseph was a member of Resurrection Life church and he and his wife relocated to Venice, FL in 2013.

Joe worked for the US Naval Ordnance as a mechanic for over 22 years. He enjoyed working with his hands, whether that be tending to his yard at his home in Indiana or woodworking in his workshop.  He and his soulmate, Janet always enjoyed going to the movies together and watching the sunset at the jetties.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Janet Ann Pierce, his son Joseph Michael Pierce, his parents Walter and Mary Pierce, and 11 siblings.

He is survived by his children Angela (Chris) Sprigler, David (Lori) Pierce, Teresa (Jude) Malone, and Doug (Paige) Pierce, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sister Lori (Ronnie) Riker, and many friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00PM on September 1, 2023, at Resurrection Life Church, 2806 Blackiston Mill Rd., Clarksville, Indiana 47129.
