Obituary of Rossie Tackett

Rossie “Rick” Tackett, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at age 76 on August 9, 2023, surrounded by family.  Rick was born on August 2, 1947, in Charleston, WV.  

Rick served honorably in the US Army as a sergeant.  He later worked as a lineman / troubleman at Florida Power & Light for over 30 years, where he eventually retired. 

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Marsha Boggs Tackett; his daughter, Mindy Beyer and her husband, Ryan Beyer; his son, Bret Tackett and his wife, Erin Tackett; his granddaughter, Taylor Bruttaniti; and his grandson, Augustus Tackett.

Rick was predeceased by his father, Rossie Elisha Tackett; mother, Mildred Martin Tackett; and brother, Randy Tackett.  He is survived by sister, Pat Jones; sister, Michell Bolinger; brother, Rod Tackett; and sister, Kim Presnall.  

Rick was a highly intelligent man, loved by many, and understood by few.  He possessed a strong and unconditional adoration for his family. 

West Virginia was always home in Rick's heart—and home is where he’ll rest.  A burial will take place at Boggs Cemetery in Big Otter, WV.  A private celebration of life will also be held in West Virginia.  Donations in his memory can be made to Tidewell Foundation.
