Obituary of Louis Paul Crapet

Louis Paul Crapet (Lou), 76, of North Port, Florida, and formally of Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, entered into eternal life peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2023 surrounded by his wife, Elizabeth and his loving family.

Lou was born on December 24, 1946, in Wasserburg am Inn, Germany to Paul an Anna Crapet.

At the age of 4, Lou and his parents came to America on August 17, 1950, with the help of his Uncle Lou and Aunt Lydia Gombosi. Lou grew up in Dover and Mine Hill, New Jersey and graduated from Dover High School in 1964. In 1969, Lou was commissioned into the United States Army and served our great nation as part of the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.

Lou met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Eliz) in 1981 and they married on August 17,1985 and spent the next 38 years enjoying life together.

Lou spent most of his career in the automobile industry. Lou had a love for all cars but his favorite was the Corvette. Lou also enjoyed boating, collecting model cars, vacationing and dining out with family and friends.

Lou is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Crapet, of North Port, Florida; his sister and husband, Anna Crapet and Bill Estler of North Port, Florida; his sister-in-law and husband, Karen and Jeff Garrison, of Bethlehem PA; his brother-in law and fiancée, Peter Flynn and April Rauchman of Marlboro, New Jersey; and his nieces and nephews, Jim Thein, Andrea and Adam Llewellyn, Jennifer Flynn, Emilie Flynn, Jamie Garrison, Kyle Garrison and T.J. Garrison. Lou is preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul and Anna Crapet.

Lou will always be remembered for his love of family, his kindness, big hugs, warm smile and his life-long passion for cars.

A Funeral Mass will be held on August 4th at 10 AM at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, Florida followed by a Military Honors Ceremony at 12:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
