Obituary of Andres Vazquez
Andres Vazquez age 85, of North Port, Florida passed into eternal life on Monday, June 12th, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; his daughters Linda Willis, and Valerie Orr (Robert); grandchildren Brianna Orr, Kayla Orr, Reece Willis, and Riley Willis; sisters Cruz Rioseco, Ana Rioseco, and Hilda Miranda; brother Luis Alberto Vazquez; and many nieces and nephews.
Andres graduated from the Naval Academy of Cuba in 1958, first in his class. He served as an officer in the Cuban Navy, Cuban Merchant Marines, and later in the United States Navy with the rank of Lieutenant. He proudly participated in the Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1960, fighting for freedom for his native Cuba. Andres had a gift for teaching and instructing, both in his maritime career and his personal life. He was very proud of his family, known to them as their “Papi”, and loved his garden and had a true appreciation of God’s Creation.
A visitation of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at 10:30 am with services to follow at 11am at Farley Funeral Home in North Port, FL.
