Obituary of Linda Gillis Cochran

Linda Gillis Cochran, age 71, of Venice, Florida, passed away on May 7, 2023.  A middle child Linda was born on May 31, 1951, in Rumford, ME.  A graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1969, and Newton College of the Sacred Heart, Newton, MA, Class of 1973.

 While living in Rumford, she loved her summers at Worthley Pond, water skiing every day with her summer friends. After college, she moved to Hartford, CT, and worked for Cigna Re in Health Reinsurance. From there she moved to Dallas, TX, then Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, and then for the last 22 years their favorite place, Venice, FL. While living in Venice Golf & Country Club in Venice, FL she was the first woman President of the Club from 2014-2016. Linda also enjoyed traveling with her husband Larry, together they saw 70 countries, all 50 states, and all the national parks. Linda loved every minute of all those adventurous trips.

Linda is survived by her brother Lawrence (Larry) Gillis, Jr. and his wife, Jan of Simsbury, CT; sister Betty DiBiase and her husband, John of Portland, ME; seven nephews and several great nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Cochran, her mother, Barbara Rowe Gillis and father, Lawrence A. Gillis, Sr.

Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Provident Fund at Venice Gold & Country Club, 250 Venice Golf Club Drive, Venice, Florida 34292.
