Obituary of Marie Magdalene Rifenburg

Marie Magdalene Rifenburg, 92, passed away on April 3, 2023, in Venice, FL. She was born on July 21, 1930, in New Salam, PA to Anthony and Magdalene (Owcarz) Sulik. Marie graduated from Waynesburg College in 1955, and later earned a Master’s of Science degree from West Virginia University. She taught Biology in Pennsylvania, and Physical Education in Virginia and Maryland schools for over 40 years.  Her last job was teaching at Four Seasons Elementary School from 1972 to 1995. She was married to her husband Ray W. Rifenburg for 27 years.

She is predeceased by her husband Ray W. Rifenburg, her parents Anthony and Magdalene Sulik, and her 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Marie is survived by her sister Catherine Sulik, daughter, Maria Rifenburg Voreh, son-in-law Gregory Voreh, grandchildren Zachary Voreh, his wife Shawna Stump Voreh, and Erika Voreh, and great grandchildren Bentley Stump-Voreh and Ellie Voreh.

Marie was a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, bingo, knitting, and crocheting. After she retired, she traveled around the word, seeing much of the United States, Europe, Russia, South Pacific and Caribbean Islands.

A mass will be held at 10 AM on May 4, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Rd, Venice, FL 34292.
