Obituary of Isolde Annemarie Hughes

Isolde “Mausi” Annemarie Hughes, aged 98, of Warminster, PA, died quietly Saturday, March 4, 2023, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter in Osprey Florida.

Born in Eimsbüttel, Hamburg, Germany April 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Freida Paul Claus and Marie Emma Margaretha Ida Claus (nee Schreck Stallman).

Isolde was the beloved wife of Thomas B. Hughes who she first met in 1951 in Germany, and with whom she devotedly lived as husband and wife ever since. As of March 25, 2023, they would have been married for 70 years.

She is survived by her husband Thomas “Tom” B. Hughes; two daughters – Uta wife of Dudley and Margaret wife of Jim; her siblings – Inge and Bodo; six grandchildren – Rebecca, Rollins, Jeff, Lori, Tracy, and Zlatko; five great grandchildren – Nic and wife Maddie, Madison, Maja, and Ava Grace; sister-in-law Margie; sister-in-law Barb; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mausi was predeceased by brother Guenter Claus, sister-in-law Helen “Leni” Claus, brother Wieland “Will” Klaus, brother-in-law Nicolas “Nicky” Acheé, sister-in-law Katherine “Kitty” Claus, brother-in-law John “Jack” Hughes, granddaughter Michelle Fontenot, and Hughes siblings – Esther, Jimmy, Shirley, and Janey.

A private service was conducted at the bedside for immediate family. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

The family wishes to express gratitude for the outstanding patience, care, and compassion of the staff at Continuum Care Hospice of Sarasota.
