Obituary of Emil Melnyk

Emil Melnyk, 86, of North Port, FL, formerly of Kensington CT, passed away peacefully, Tuesday February 28, 2023. He was born in Morochivo, Ukraine to the late Anna and Mychajlo  Melnyk.  He is survived by his siblings, John (Steffa) Melnyk, Mary Diack, Helena (Michael) Shulewsky, Walter (Wanda) Melnyk, and Sophie (Richard) Vigue. He was predeceased by his sister, Luba Malisz.  He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and family in Ukraine.  Emil was a trustee of St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Britain.  He was a Permittee of American Ukrainian Citizens Club in New Britain.  He was local Secretary of Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and Ukrainian Fraternal Organization.  He also served on the Committee for the Stamford Diocese Ukrainian Day.  Upon retirement from New Britain Machine, he moved to Florida where he was also active in the Ukrainian community.

Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday March 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Garden.  Panakhyda Service will take place Monday March 6, 2023 at 4:00 PM at the Farley Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Emil’s memory, to St. Josaphat Ukrainian Church, New Britain, CT or St. Mary Ukrainian Church, North Port, FL.
