Ronald Roth

Obituary of Ronald M. Roth

Ronald M. Roth, 76, of Venice, FL passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Born January 9, 1946 in Utica, NY, he was the son of Frederick Roth and Sophie Walaszewski Roth. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jane McElroy Roth; two sons Dan (Holly) of Henrietta, NY and Alexander (Sara) of Averill Park, NY; a brother Fred of New Port Richey, FL; three sisters Diane Woodward of Las Vegas, NV, Kathleen Lacomis of Charlotte, NC, and Suzanne Guyer of Oswego, NY; grandchildren Samantha, Kyle, and Logan; nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Ron was a kind, outgoing person. He loved the water, the beach, the mountains in the Adirondacks, skiing, hiking, boating, and snowboarding. He was the fourth child of Fred and Sophie. His childhood was filled with close-knit activities. Fred and Ron were very close. Ron went to the University of Albany and graduated with a Bachelors in Political Science. He spent most of his career as the Planning Director for Greene County in upstate New York. He loved working and living there.

In 1967 Ron met Jane and they were married in February 1968. They have two children, Dan and Alex. In the 1980’s and early 90’s, Ron received  several awards for white water canoeing and kayaking. These awards were meaningful to Ron because it was an achievement and it was some scary shit. He also dragged his kids along and got away without killing either.

Ron was active in the Coast Guard Auxillary.  He spent many hours doing boat safety checks for citizens of the community in the Venice area.  He was a volunteer at the Friends of the Schroon Lake Public Library.  He volunteered at sales events.  He was a member of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game club.

The world is a sadder place without Ron in our lives.  But Ron touched each and every person he met and has left many memories that will be cherished forever.
