Obituary of William H. Hamilton

William Harold “Billy” Hamilton, 84, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on December 14, 2022, in Port Charlotte, FL.

Billy was born 2/1/1938 in Peoria, IL. He retired in 1996 after a 37-year career with Illinois Bell/Ameritech.

Shortly after retirement, he quickly realized that the cold Illinois weather simply wasn’t going to work for him, so he packed it all up and headed to Florida. He made his new home in Cape Coral, FL where he enjoyed golfing, boating, and fishing with the many great friends he made over the years.

He loved to travel to Illinois every August to visit with his family and friends, and to gather 50 pounds of Illinois tomatoes to take back to Florida with him in the trunk of his car to enjoy for weeks on end and to share with his Florida friends. His real passion was golf, and he was doing what he loved as recent as this Summer.

Billy is survived by his 2 sisters, Lois Martin and Dody Wright, one son, Bret Hamilton, daughters Julie (and Greg) Ledbetter and Janice (and Steve) Hamilton-Marrocco, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kenny Hamilton.
