June Cassidy

Obituary of June L. Cassidy

June Lenore Cassidy (nee Consley), Sarasota resident for the last 22 years, departed life at the age of 92, exactly as she started life, with a single breath, on November 28, 2022. Technically part of the “Silent Generation”, June apparently didn’t get that memo as she exercised her right to free speech from a very early age up to her death. Born during the Great Depression, June, while still in elementary school, wrote a story that was published in the newspaper about one specific Christmas during that difficult time. From there, her love of reading and attention to the smallest detail, took her from working on an assembly line at Carter Carburetor in St. Louis to Washington D.C. as an administrative assistant for the House Committee on Energy & Commerce, with stops along the way working for McDonnell Aircraft and the SUNY at Buffalo. Throughout her career, she left everyone who knew her with memories of her fierce loyalty, exceptional work ethic, love of reading, knowledge of history, never-ending ability to debate politics on any and every conceivable occasion, and exceptional ability and willingness to always cook the most wonderful meals.

June was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard J. Cassidy, as well as parents, Sophie (nee Hoffman) and Walter Consley, and her sister, Mae Roantree. She is survived by her children, Joellen Tilseth (Don), Thomas Cassidy (Patricia), John Cassidy, and Susan Ford (Mitchell), nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and countless extended family and friends for whom the memories of her will live on in the hearts and minds of all.

Services will be private.
