Obituary of Frances Helen Gostanian

Frances Helen Gostanian passed away at age 91 on September 24, 2022, in Venice, FL. She was born on August 11, 1931, in Cambridge, MA to Matthew and Mary Girdvainis. She graduated from Cambridge High & Latin.  She went to work at Polaroid and worked on the first land camera. Frances married her husband John Gostanian in 1955 and resided in Malden where she raised her family. She worked as a laboratory technician at M.I.T. until retirement in 1992. She and her husband relocated to Venice, FL in 1993.

Frances was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She loved to dance, trips to the casino and spending time with her family. When she moved down to Venice, she became dedicated to her health and was often seen at the local YMCA working out and socializing with friends.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Frances is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, John K. Gostanian, grandson-in-law Jarrett Woodruff, and 4 brothers.

She is survived by her children Denise (Domenic) Scolaro and Michael J. (Heidi) Gostanian, grandchildren Melissa Woodruff, Joseph (Julia) Scolaro, Brandon Gostanian, and Bobby Gostanian, great grandson Lucas Woodruff, sister-in-law Ann Hussey, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

One of her greatest qualities was her ability to be a great listener without judgement.  She was truly an empathetic woman.

She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by her family & friends.
